Our mission was originally to bring these wonderful Iconic American Vintage Airstream caravans into New Zealand so that people could enjoy their beauty and comfort for many years to come.
(5th Sept 2011) ........Unfortunately it is no longer viable for us to bring Airstreams in to SELL so we have made the decision to no longer import them for sale. However, we can source, negotiate and buy them for a finders fee - negotiable of course dependant on what is involved at the time, if sourced close to the shipping port its much cheaper. It would be shipped in the buyers name with all shipping costs etc payable directly by the buyer, which makes it cheaper as we do not have to build in tax or GST when we sell it. If you want to do it all yourself we are happy to advise.
Please note....Airstreams DO NOT fit in a shipping container so we have found the best service currently is on a flatrack.The previously cheapest cost for shipping was with the cancelled Roll on Roll off service which was calculated on volume which meant smaller caravans were cheaper to ship, the current flatrack service is one price for all sizes up to 38ft. The cost now to ship including Freight, BAF (fuel for the ship), GST, duty, Insurance, MAF, customs, all port/handling/documentation charges in NZ and USA, brokerage and cartage at origin if any is between $15k and $20k NZ, dependant on what you pay for the caravan (for calculating Duty and GST) and the US dollar at the time of shipping, shipping is additional to the purchase price of a vintage Airstream in the States.
We are now importing late model NON-AIRSTREAM Caravans- Jaycos, Keystone, Forest River, Toy Haulers, 5th wheelers etc from the USA at exceptional prices, up to $30,000 below what others are selling them for on Trade Me. See our site for what is currently for sale and what we have sold.
We have established some great contacts in the USA enabling us to get good deals and pass the savings on. The biggest cost of imported caravans from the USA is in the shipping and the fluctuation of the US Dollar. A silver bullet Airstream trailer would look great towed behind your classic American Chevy, Mustang or Dodge etc. We can also help with free advice on sourcing and shipping classic cars in USA.

A FEW FACTS........The first Airstream travel trailer rolled off the California assembly line in 1936 and was the beginning of what has become a true American Icon. Airstreams are now built in Ohio by Thor Industries who bought the Airstream company in the 70's when it was in deep financial strife.Thor industries was co founded by Wade Thompson, a kiwi from Wellington, who was the CEO of the Thor industries company until his death in November 2009.
In the USA Airstreams are measured in feet, from the tip of the drawbar (tounge) to the back of the rear bumper, so a 27ft Airstream Travel Trailer is the equivalent of what we would call a 23 foot 6inch caravan. In the USA they are called Travel Trailers...we call them caravans.
If you check out Airstream sites in the US ( airforums.com, vintage airstreams, the airstreamguy and ebay ) you will see that the smaller caravans are generally more expensive to buy than the larger ones, which is opposite to the trend in NZ. Apparently the smaller ones are more sought after because these days they are easier and cheaper to move about for Gas price conscious Americans plus it is easier and cheaper to find storage when not in use
